Fashionista sips away the way the summer
Give a Cheer, Sooner Football is here!
“Brrr, it’s cold in here. The Sooner Fashionista’s in the atmosphere”
Good ‘morrow, my darlings! It’s so good to be back, judging your fashion choices once again. As though I’d ever really stopped. I do hope all have had a wonderful spring and a delightful summer and are ready to cheer our illustrious Sooners on to victory. Speaking of cheering, let me inform you of my summer activities.
How about dressing those rare male cheerleaders in more revealing outfits…
Fashionista can be such a tedious occupation when one is flitting from one continent to the next giving advice and much needed counsel to the poorly dressed.
Luckily, that wasn’t my fortune. I stayed at home this year, dressed in my stylish sweats and pearls, drinking wine and rewatching classic movies from the late 90’s.
Studying the history of fashion is no easy thing. We must learn history lest we carelessly repeat it. Do we want a repeat of crocheted leisure suits? I think not.
I immediately found myself drawn to that classic film Bring It On released in 2000. And though much of fashion has changed since then (can you believe anyone thought velour sweat suits would last or that oversized “blossom” hats would continue to highlight our fashion garden?), the cheerleading outfit has remained much the same.
I suggest we bring the proverbial “It” on. Let’s be the first to take the cheerleading outfit into the next decade.
Short pleated skirts? Yawn. Sleeveless half tops with the mascot’s name on it? 1980 called. They want their outfit and their Aquanet back.
On that same note, how about dressing those rare male cheerleaders in a little more revealing outfits. We ladies and certain discerning males like some eye candy as our Sooners rout their opponents. Even if the said male leader of cheers doesn’t “play for my team” if you’ll excuse my euphemism. One doesn’t have to have a log in my fire for me to enjoy the heat it emits. Give it a think, hmmm?
Until next time, my sweetlings. I’m off like a dirty shirt!
