Sooners turn the Tide, dominate in 24-3 win

by

Relying on the legs of QB Jackson Arnold and true freshman RB Xavier Robinson — and a dominating defense spearheaded by veteran LB Danny Stutsman — Oklahoma soundly defeated No. 7 ranked Alabama 24-3, delivering a most improbable outcome of the Sooners’ final home game of its difficult inaugural SEC season, likely spoiling the Crimson Tide’s playoff hopes and securing OU’s 25-year bowl appearance streak, the second longest in college football.

Before Saturday night’s 6:30 pm kickoff, who would have thought this would happen?

Not many. Except the guys wearing the helmets with interlocking O and U thought so.

They played like it, anyway, throughout 60 minutes of football. It might be hindsight to say this, but Alabama never threatened the Sooners after Oklahoma scored on a 18 yard Robinson run with 36 seconds left in the second quarter.

Arnold completed 9 of 11 passes, but it was his 131 yards on 25 carries that carried the day. The Alabama defense appeared to have no answer for Arnold’s keepers.

“It’s huge,” Arnold said of the win. “I’ll say this would be a signature win in my playing career. You don’t have many like this. I don’t know if I’ll ever have the field rushed again when I play. But it’s s

Dave: Criticism of QB play misplaced

Oklahoma went to Columbia, MO a few weeks ago and played well enough to win…for 58 minutes. And
this time it was actually the defense that folded in crunch time allowing the Tigers to escape with a win
on their homefield.

I realize it was the defense that gave the Sooners the lead on a scoop and score, but then with only two minutes left they allowed Missouri to drive the field and tie the game.

After that Jackson Arnold of course made a colossal blunder fumbling the ball allowing Missouri their own scoop and score to take the lead and eventually win the game.

A lot of people are piling on Arnold for that awful play saying that caused us to lose the game. But again, I am laying the blame at the feet of the defense. The defense is supposed to be the strength of this team.

We know the offense has been hampered by injuries to the wide receivers and inexperience in the offensive line all year. Both OU starting quarterbacks have had to run for their lives most of the season. You can’t tell me that they wouldn’t have performed much better this year with a healthy stable of wide receivers and a more experienced O-line.

Fashionista: Overalls for banjos and beer

by

Hello, my loves!  Welcome to the weekly offering from your friendly football fashion plate: ME!

It is with a sad heart that I inform you that after much thought, deliberation and research out the wazoo I have come to the following conclusion. Instead of leading you down said Alabam-ian Primrose Path, I will share with you the only fashion I could possibly glean from the folks that associate a Crimson Tide with an elephant:

Overalls with no shirt underneath. Trucker caps. Forrest Gump. Banjos and beer.

Even I, your Magician-ista of modern Mode, the Sooner Fashionista, herself, cannot Harry Potter the Hell out of this makeup.
