Dave: Big win done, now time for revenge

by

I love it when I’m wrong! Oklahoma went out last week and proved that they can win a big game on the road against a quality opponent. The monkey is off the back.

And, allow me to respond to the two biggest excuses that Florida State fans have come up with as to why they lost the game.

Excuse 1: Had E.J. Manuel not gotten hurt, FSU wins. Ridiculous. Manuel left the game late in the 3rd quarter. That means he played in well over half the game. And in that time he lead his team to 3 points. A whopping 3 points. His backup played in less than half the game and got 10 points.

And, oh by the way, when he ran back on the sidelines in the fourth quarter? The team doctors had given him the ok to go back in the game.

Jimbo Fisher said in his postgame press conference that he was told Manuel could play, but he decide to stay with Trickett. Fisher himself thought they had a better chance to win with Trickett than with Manuel.

Worry Meter Hovering at 25 percent

Excuse 2: The Big XII officiating crew was biased toward the Sooners. Officiating lost the game for the Seminoles. Wow. In the final stats FSU was called for 6 penalties totaling 57 yards. OU was called for 7 penalties for 60 yards.

I’m no math wiz but….And let me point out 3 more 15 yard penalties that should have been called against the Seminoles that weren’t:

1. After Tom Wort intercepted Manuel, the FSU player tackled him by grabbing the side of his helmet and spinning him down. That’s a personal foul and 15 yards.

2. When Kenny Stills caught the 38 yarder down the sideline, the FSU player who flew over him hit him in the head with his elbow. This resulting in Stills having to leave the game for a few plays due to being woozy. Personal foul, 15 yards.

3. And finally after Trickett threw his touchdown pass he removed his helmet while on the field of play. Unsportsmanlike conduct, 15 yards. So you’re welcome FSU. There’s 45 yards of freebies courtesy of Big XII refs.

Anyway, on to Missouri. The worry meter is hovering at about 25% this week. While there is always the threat of a let down after a huge game like FSU, I can’t see it this week.

The Sooners will be ready to dish out a little revenge for last year’s road loss that knocked OU from the #1 ranking. Add to that our home field advantage and we shouldn’t have a problem getting up for this one.

But if the players need a little more incentive, how about this from Missouri wide receiver Jerrell Jackson about the Sooners..”I don’t know what makes them so tough, ain’t nothin’ tough about them to me.”…the sharks are circling. With all that being said…BOOMER!
