Sooners’ ‘O’ face tough chore against Mizzou ‘D’
Some teams just seem to have another team’s number. While being underdogs the past two years against Alabama, Oklahoma still came away with victories in both games bringing their all time record against the Tide to 5-2-1.
As a matter of fact, the Sooners have been underdogs in at least half of the games that have been played between these blue bloods of college football. In 2024 they were as much as two touchdown underdogs.
Last Saturday, the Sooners collected three turnovers and won the field position battle to walk out of Tuscaloosa with an unconventional victory and the #8 ranking in the College Football Playoff standings.
Oklahoma will be looking to avenge their ugly loss to the Tigers in Columbia last year
I say unconventional because of you looked at the final stat line you would think Alabama dispatched Oklahoma with relative ease. But the only stat that matters is the final score.
Alabama fans will tell you they beat themselves with those 3 turnovers. Hey, if that helps them sleep at night.
How come turnovers are always “mistakes” or “self inflicted wounds” that are what caused a team to beat themselves? Were they out there playing against air? No, the Oklahoma defense FORCED those turnovers. And the offense and special teams capitalized on them to take the win.
It’s pretty simple for the Sooners and the Playoffs now. Win the last two home games and they are in. Starting with an 11 am kickoff against the Missouri Tigers in Norman.
Oklahoma will be looking to avenge their ugly loss to the Tigers in Columbia last year. Missouri has a strong rush game with NCAA leading running back Ahmad Hardy. So it will be strength on strength when he goes against the Sooner defensive line.
All eyes will be on whether or not Tiger quarterback Beau Pribula can come back from injury for this game. With him, Missouri has a legitimate passing attack.
If he can’t make a go of it, the Sooners can key on Hardy. Either way the Oklahoma offense will have a chore against a tough Tiger defense.
It’s gonna a be a tight game so the Worry Meter is at 90% this week.
As cliche as it sounds, every game is truly a play off game the rest of the way. With all that being said…BOOMER!!!
