Predicting a 21-17 Sooners win
I am predicting a 21-17 Sooners victory over Michigan, thanks to a fourth quarter defensive touchdown. The Wolverines will lead at halftime 14-7, but a strong second half from the Sooners defense holds them in their only red zone incursion late in the third quarter and Michigan must settle for a field goal.
Or not.
Predicting this game seems so foolish. It is only the second game of the year. And while Michigan’s true freshman QB will face his first big-time hostile college football crowd, he wasn’t selected the top high school recruit because he is a cowardly bum.
Actually I hope my score prediction is wrong. I don’t need a tight ballgame this early in the season. The Sooners have enough real difficult matchups later in the year (playing six more Top 25 teams), and I only see my cardiologist once every six months.
Saturday is stripe the stadium night. Also known as “Who has more than one crimson shirt?” night, or, “My only white Sooners shirt lost the last game” night.
I just have to remember what section I am in. Odd or even? It’s probably odd.
The Devon Tower in downtown Oklahoma City was flashing the neon interlocking OU atop the building on Friday night. It was like a signal calling on our intrepid hero Soonerguy to come and save the day.

I am not getting up at 5 am Saturday to attend the ESPN Gameday. Nick Saban will be there, but he would tell me that I need my sleep and what takes place on that show is foolishness.
If you only go to one football game and OU-Michigan is it, and the Sooners lose, then you can expect all your friends to blame you.
Michigan fans think because their star linebacker Jaishawn Barham, who was guilty of a targeting infraction last week, must sit out the first half, then he will be all mad when he comes in for the third quarter and will play like superman to harass OU QB John Mateer.
I’m more concerned because he will have fresh legs.
Several airlines added direct flights from Ann Arbor and Detroit Michigan to Oklahoma City on Friday to accommodate Michigan fans traveling to Norman. We expect to see as many there for the game as Big Ten Buckeyes fans traveled back in 2016.
Hopefully the outcome won’t be the same. (Ohio State won 45-24).
