Dave: Trust in Venables — Sooners gain confidence with each win

by

Baylor and Oklahoma are very similar and close — this will be tough and physical game

On October 15th the Sooners beat Kansas in Norman.  After a bye week the Sooners then beat Iowa State on October 29th.  That my friends constitutes a winning streak.

Although the streak came against a couple of teams that are ranked in the bottom half of the Big 12 standings, we will take it.

Because unfortunately the Sooners are in the bottom half right now as well.

Oklahoma will need to play clean and disciplined to come out on the winning side.

But a win on the road is always a good win no matter who the team.  Even though Iowa State has a very questionable offense, their defense was stout and gave OU fits.

It was great to see special teams execute a perfect fake field goal for a touchdown to put more pressure on that suspect Iowa State offense.

The Sooner defense took advantage with 3 interceptions to ice the game and start the streak.  They now have the opportunity this Saturday to continue the winning streak against the Baylor Bears in Norman.

Baylor beat OU last year, one of only two teams to do so.  So there should be motivation to pay them back on our home turf.

If you look at the stats and records, these two teams are very similar.  This will be a tough physical game that will be won by the team that makes the fewest mistakes.

Oklahoma will need to play clean and disciplined to come out on the winning side.

In my opinion these teams are that close.  But I think with each win the Sooners are gaining confidence in the Venables system and trusting the process.

So the Worry Meter is easing off some this week as it comes down from the 100% mark of the past few weeks and settles at 85%.

One more win for bowl eligibility.  After that…well…let’s see what happens.  With all that being said….BOOMER!!!
