Weekly Pick ’em Preview

Soonerguys introduces team play for 2010

The Soonerguys weekly college football Pick ’em Contests returns this year, with some new players and a new format.  But, the most important change is the addition of “team play”, which means not only will individual winners come out of the season, but also, in Survivor-like fashion, Team Boomer and Team Sooner will compete against each other. (Losers will be publicly humiliated and voted off the island.)

The single player with the best score (1 pt for win, 0 point for loss, 10 points for picking South Dakota to win the BCS and getting it right) will get a mug or something (well, after all in these economic times we must do our share of cutting back).

And, there are coaches — young up-and-coming motivational experts Hannah and Maddie who will provide video direction and encouragement as the season progresses.

Check out the lineup below:

Team Boomer

Coach Hannah

Team Boomer has at it’s helm QB Hunter, who spent the summer in training in the high altitude of Colorado. At WR is Tommy, who, unlike most recruits traveled to Texas from Oklahoma instead of the other way around, but we forgive him. At TE is Melissa, who’s shaking off an injury to compete — she’s tough. At LB is Rick, a veteran with an all-work country attitude ala Ricky Bryan. At FB is senior Lew, who is expected to bounce back after a tough season last year. A newcomer to Soonerguys, Mason, is expected to shine at RB (he has an impressive crawl on all fours that is likely to confuse the opponents).

Coach Maddie

The Team Sooner is led by Alex at QB and his likely go-to guy will be Mike L., who has the size and quickness needed at TE. Key in the O-line will be Gerald at C, who is expected to make big holes for newcomer RB Roger, who just came off the injured list. On defense, Stacey is a new player at DB who brings the smarts needed to read opposing offenses. Mike returns at DT, hoping to throw his weight around with opponents.

  1. Oh I see, you put the fat boy on the line. 🙁 Now I need to start practicing snapping…..and wind sprints. sigh.

I guess after how bad last year was for me, I’m just happy to have my ‘contact’ picked up for another year.

SOONER!!! and Coach Maddie all the way!

  2. There was a labor dispute last year and some personnel changes this year. Like the NFL, our “contracts” aren’t guaranteed. In the meantime, we’ve selected the Best and Brightest from your family, Scott, and he’s playing RB on Hannah’s “Boomer” team. As for picking games on Sundays — hmmmm, that’s something we could look into. — the management

  3. I think sherry and I and melissa and gammy and my kids will have to have our own team. We would dominant but we need to pick on sundays after the games so we can be 100 % DId you kick sherry off, she probably deserved it. Hopefully this year maybe we can meet some of these people that are on the website. Go SOONERS
