Dave: Worry meter high — Jayhawks will bring their best shot

by

Rest of Sooner schedule will bring close games

No one said it was going to be easy.

Some casual fans out there probably came into that game against UCF thinking, “UCF will be a cake walk, they’ve already lost three games. We’re going to roll them.”

Some of us knew better. Coming off the huge emotional win against texas. Having to go thru a bye week and the possible rustiness that comes with that.

The fact that UCF had the 4 th ranked offense in the country and had just gotten back their starting QB from injury. And of course a strong opposing head coach in Gus Malzahn. If ever there was a trap game…

But in the end, championship teams find a way to win under less than ideal circumstances and when they aren’t playing their best game.

With the offense sputtering for the first three quarters, the Sooners finally did what they had to do scoring two fourth quarter touchdowns, stopping a 2-point conversion, and recovering an onside kick to secure the win.

Every game from here on out will most likely be a close one, so hold on.

And that starts this Saturday morning in Lawrence against the Kansas Jayhawks.

Gone are the days of Kansas being a Big 12 doormat.

Even having lost two Big 12 games, they are still 5-2 and have a potent offense that will be a tough out for any team they face. Especially at home.

It doesn’t matter if their starting QB has been injured. Second string QB Jason Bean darn near beat the Sooners two years ago in Lawrence and put up 42 points on Owen Field last year. He is more than capable of running that offense effectively.

And everyone gives Oklahoma their best shot because, well…we’re Oklahoma.

This is also the Jayhawk’s Homecoming game which adds more fuel to their tank.

So that’s why the Worry Meter is spiking at 90% this week. It’s not basketball season, but Kansas is looking to make a name for itself on the gridiron now.

A win against the Sooners will go a long way towards that goal.

But as always, Oklahoma will have something to say about that. With all that being said….BOOMER!!!
