Lampkin de-commits from UT, enrolls in class at OU

by

Former Texas commit Du Vonta Lampkin has enrolled at OU after being denied admission in Austin due to a foreign language requirement. Lampkin is the third addition to the 2015 recruiting class over the summer.

University officials have not commented on Lampkin, but Coach Bob Stoops may do so at a press conference on Monday. Lampkin announced his admission to OU on Twitter on Friday.

Lampkin was a three-star recruit from Cypress Falls, Texas and had offers from Baylor, TCU, LSU, Michigan and Notre Dame. He had 81 tackles — 38 for loss — as well as 18 sacks and eight forced fumbles as a high school senior.

Lampkin (6-foot-4, 306 pounds) was a long-time Sooners commit who eventually committed and then signed with Texas.

In 11 of the last 15 years, OU has been ranked in the top five of the preseason coaches poll. The poll is voted on by a panel of 64 coaches and has been in existence since 1950.

Sooner fans have plenty to be excited about in 2015 as OU players litter the national watch-list scene. Currently, nine Sooners appear on watch lists for 22 total awards.

Additionally, the Sooners were tabbed third in the 2015 Big 12 Football Preseason Poll, voted on annually by media representatives. Oklahoma is looking to add another conference title to the league-leading eight it currently boasts. No other team in the conference has more than three.
