Dave: OU vs WVa – first real road trip is a tough one

OU v Tennessee re-cap

Defense wins championships. But the offense sure needs to help out.
When the offense came out to receive the ball to start the third quarter and promptly drove the field for a touchdown I thought, ok here we go. The route is on.

Unfortunately that was not the case. After that first drive of the second half, the offense pretty much went to lunch. Now my hope is that Stoops told Heupel to throttle back the rest of the night.

This game is in the bag. Don’t show anything else that could give future opponents a leg up in game planning. The defense will take it home. And this may very well be the case. The defense was in control with a 17 point lead.

But instead of getting better, he got worse — throwing two interceptions and giving up another fumble in a close match with the Mountaineers that placed the game outcome squarely in the hands of the Sooner defense.

Oklahoma held on to a 16-7 win, thanks in large measure to a stellar run game (Brennan Clay for 170 yards) and stingy defense lead by Gabe Lynn (one interception and one fumble recovery) that stepped up for the second straight week.
