Dave: The playoff selection committee is a joke

by

No love from the playoff committee.

Apparently strength of schedule doesn’t matter to them.  If it did I contend that Alabama should be number 4 and Oklahoma should be number 1.

Oh I know Oklahoma has a loss and Alabama is undefeated.  But hear me out.

Who the hell has Alabama played?  They have victories over two currently ranked teams.  Two teams that are ranked in the bottom half of the polls.

Don’t give me Florida St.  We all now know Florida St. stinks.  They aren’t even going to make a bowl.  Alabama is getting credit for beating a terrible team with a great traditional name.

Oklahoma has victories over three currently ranked teams, all in the top 15.  Two of them on the road.

And if you want traditional college football name, how about Ohio St. in Columbus?  Yes, again I know we have a loss and Alabama doesn’t.  But if one slip up of a loss matters, explain to me Clemson.  Number 2?  They only have two victories over currently ranked teams.

And they got beat by Syracuse.  I mean come on.  Syracuse?

They aren’t going to make a bowl either.  At least Iowa St. has shown they aren’t a one trick pony.

Iowa State also beat TCU, who is now ranked in the top 15 and took top 10 Oklahoma State to the last possession.

And oh yeah, ISU is going bowling.  Hell ISU is still in the hunt for a Big 12 Title.  It all goes back to the whole bias against Big 12 defenses.

But whenever I saw Oklahoma play an SEC team in the past five years, all I saw were victories.  Auburn, Tennessee twice, and oh..who else was there?  Now I remember…Alabama.

I know that all OU has to do is win out and they are in.  But seeding matters.  It could mean the difference of playing an Alabama or even an Auburn in the Sugar Bowl in the middle of SEC country.

Or making Alabama travel out West instead of them always getting to play closer to home.

I say bring back the computers.  The playoff committee is a bunch of BS.

The Sooners have a virtual scrimmage up in Lawrence against the Kansas Jayhawks this weekend.  So the Worry Meter is only at 5%.

Just take care of business and get out of there with no injuries.  With all that being said…BOOMER!!!  – Dave
