OK. Here we go again.
Another set of “alternative” uniforms by Nike. OU Athletic department officials said the Sooners would wear the alternative get ups in only one or two games this season.
The announcement was with much fanfare. Players expressed delight. Fans expressed disgust.
Such is the difference between 19-year-olds who want to be stylish (apparently even when engrossed in a football game) and tradition-cherishing fans and alums who would rather nothing change.
But, notice Nike didn’t omit the interlocking OU on the helmets (although slightly larger than the usual version). Some things you can’t change.
“As long as we don’t steer away and become like Oregon and OSU with all those different combinations, that’s fine with me,” Sooner alum Tinker Owens said.
