With only 18 Bedlam wins ever, Pokes still ‘little bro’

by

DAVES-LOGO-copyI was pleasantly surprised by the outcome of the Kansas State game.  I really thought the Sooners would be hard pressed to pull that one out.

Trevor Knight has progressed nicely since the beginning of the season and might be the Sooner quarterback for the foreseeable future.  The offense was steady and the ground game continued it’s torrid pace under Knight’s direction.

For the Sooners to win Bedlam they will have to have the same success running the ball as they have had the past few games.

Not all was rosy though, as the defense continually let Lockett burn them again and again.  In fact Lockett almost single handedly kept this game close to the very end.  Without him, OU would have won in a blowout.

However, anytime you walk out of Manhattan on the right side of the scoreboard is a good day no matter the margin of victory.

Which brings us to Bedlam in stillwater against little brother.

mike gundy goes for career win number 2 against the Sooners Saturday morning.  And if he gets it, that will bring his record against OU to a whooping 2 wins and 11 losses as a player and head coach.

Nice job there mike.

I honestly don’t know what to think about this game.  I don’t believe osu is a great team, but they are loaded with seniors and are probably the best team in a mediocre Big XII this year.

You can’t deny their win over Baylor, but Baylor has shown that they are not the juggernaut everyone thought they were.  They struggled against a pretty bad TCU team last Saturday and were without some major players when they faced pokie state.

The view in Stillwater.

For the Sooners to win they will have to have the same success running the ball as they have had the past few games.

If they can do that and mix in some timely passes, this game might turn out a lot differently than everyone thinks it will.  The defense is playing well, but again the offense must move the ball to keep the pressure off the OU defense.

Look, I would feel a whole lot better if Knight had the opportunity to have the experience of an entire season under his belt.  Because make no mistake about it.  Knight is the key to an OU victory.  If he can get free with his run game, it might be a long day for the cowpukes.

But if they bottle him up, gundy will get that coveted second victory over hated OU.  As such the worry meter is at 75% this week.

We will find out Saturday morning if little brother can notch win number 18 in the series.  Win number 18 against 83 losses.  I still don’t know why they call this a rivalry game.  Shouldn’t one team have to win more than once or twice a decade for it to be called a rivalry?

Oh well, I guess little brother has to look forward to something in stillwater.  With all that being said…BOOMER!!!  – Dave
