Not sure if Knight is the long term answer, but it’s his turn at bat

DAVES-LOGO-copyWell, you’re up Mr. Knight.  And what will you be performing for us today?

After waiting in the wings since he was injured during the Tulsa game, the Knight Rider took the field, again after an injury, to spark the Sooners to victory over hapless Iowa St.

Not sure if Knight is the long term answer, but it seemed like he gave the offense a spark that it needed at least for that day.  And as if to muddle the quarterback derby even more, Kendall Thompson came in for mop up duty and directed a touchdown drive that included a 44 yard completion and a touchdown pass.

Everyone should take this with a grain of salt though as Iowa St. was beaten down by then and just wanted to go home.  Also, that aforementioned 44 yard pass was under thrown with the wind at his back.

Manhattan is a tough place to play . . . the worry meter is spiking at 95% this week.

So the only thing that I think can really be gleaned from last Saturday is that Iowa St. is a really bad team.  And it took OU too long to get on track and put them away.  It’s almost certain that Knight will get the start this Saturday morning against Kansas St. in the little apple.   Bell might be able to play, but his injury gives the coaches the perfect excuse to keep him off the field due to his lack of production.

So we will see if Knight part II has improved enough since the beginning of the year to pull out a victory Saturday.

The Sooners will need the offense to put up some points because this is not the K-State that got beat by North Dakota State to start the year.

They have progressively improved every week as you knew a Bill Snyder coached team would.  To me they are the third best team in the league and an argument could be made they are actually the second best team at this point.

That along with the fact that Manhattan is a tough place to play to begin with is why the worry meter is spiking at 95% this week.  Knight gets a second chance.  Lets hope he makes the most of it.  With all that being said…BOOMER!!!  — Dave
